BBYO : Office Blog
My very first blog...

Hello BBYO and welcome to my very first blog EVER. I generally leave these things to the slightly more interesting, but since the boys have left me in the office on my own, I thought I'd give this a go.

I've been working in the office for just over 3 months now and I can honestly say that I don't reckon I'll ever find a job that can top this one. I get to work with friends all day, every day; I have the opportunity to make a difference to a movement that has given me so much over the last decade (yes, I am that old!); and 3 hotdogs and a firework show on Sunday night counted as work. This. Is. AWESOME!

But a lot of you are probably wondering what it is exactly that we do all day, every day, in this office. Well, the majority of our days are spent answering parental phone calls about chapters, Tour, events, a few problems that arise every now and again; sending A LOT of emails; talking to Bogrim ("graduates" those people who help staff events) in regards to new events that we are running for them/asking them to help with various events/projects; long-term planning (us thinking about the direction that BBYO should be heading in); and making tea.

Oh, and we also write a few programmes/sessions for chapter execs/people who ask for help for various things. Talk to external organisations who help us/want something from us; plan for events in the next year or two; make brochures; make some more tea; and keep up to date with chapter information.

So we're kept quite busy. But that is one of the most amazing things about this place - you never really know where the day is going to take you.

For example, I know that I have an action plan/check list of sorts to be getting through, but then I was taught by Phil how to update the chapter homepage on this and blog and now look what I've done!

I have a horrible feeling that I'm starting to ramble now so, since my fingers are numb with the cold and my tummy is starting to rumble from hunger, I'm going to sign off.

This has been Ruthie Newman blabbering on about how great her job is. Next time, I'll talk about something slightly more interesting. I promise.
