Districts and Regions

BBYO is made up of Districts. We are in District 15 (UK and Ireland). On the whole the Districts correspond to the B'nai B'rith Districts but over the years as the Jewish community has moved so the Districts have changed. Here are a few of the other Districts of BBYO to be found around the world...

11	Orient (Bulgaria, Serbia, Turkey and the Middle East)	Now part of D19
14	Israel	Called Noar le Noar (youth to youth). They have three regions: north, central and south. Programmes in this District are based mainly on welfare issues.
15	UK and Ireland	Need I say any more...
19	Continental Europe (France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Sweeden etc. Today also includes Districts 8-11)	Based in France D19 is called Netzer BBYO meaning eternity. They are very similar to (although much bigger than) D15 and also run huge Israel tour programmes.
20	North America (USA and Canada)	see below...
21	Australia and New Zeland	Programmes in this District are based mainly on sports and social activities.
23	South America	South America has never been officially recognised as a BBYO District but rather a B'nai B'rith subsidiary. It is made up from chapters from over 7 countries with BBYO connections such as Columbia, Venezuela and Mexico.
24	South Africa	This Districts activities mainly focus on welfare work.
25	Brazil and central America	This Districts activities also mainly focus on welfare work.

District 20: North America (USA and Canada) - the largest District in BBYO is so large that it is split up into over 40 regions with many regions being sub divided into area councils. BBYO started in D20 and the chapters are seperate for boys and girls - AZA (the boys) and BBG (the girls). The chapter meetings are seperate encouraging fraternaty and sisterhood, but their socials and events are together. The international office is situated in Washington and International Convention is held in D20 too.
